JSON to CSV Converter

Convert an array of JSON objects into properly escaped CSV data.

About JSON to CSV Converter

CSV is a convenient interchange format for spreadsheet software and data pipelines. This converter accepts a JSON array of objects, creates a header from the object keys, and quotes field values that contain commas, quotation marks, or line breaks.

Nested objects and arrays are represented as JSON text within a cell, and properties missing from a row produce an empty field. CSV has no native type system, so spreadsheet programs may interpret values such as long identifiers or formulas differently; review sensitive exports before opening them.

How to use this tool

Paste a non-empty JSON array of objects and select Convert to CSV. The output uses the union of keys in first-seen order and escapes cell values according to common CSV rules.

Frequently asked questions

What shape of JSON can be converted?

Use a JSON array whose entries are objects, such as [{"name":"Ada"},{"name":"Lin"}]. A single object or an array of primitive values is not accepted.

How are nested properties converted?

Nested arrays and objects are serialized as JSON text in the corresponding CSV cell. They are not expanded into additional columns.

How are quotes and commas handled?

Cells containing a comma, quote, or line break are enclosed in double quotes, and embedded double quotes are doubled according to common CSV escaping rules.
